Behind the Scenes of the 2021 Toast to Scholars: Scholarship Soiree

COVID-19 was not going to stop the ladies of Eta Omicron Zeta Chapter from celebrating the accomplishments and providing scholarships to deserving high school seniors and college students. The Finer Womanhood Luncheon committee, under the leadership of 2nd Vice President Charlene B. Dorgely, decided to hold a virtual 90-minute scholarship soiree to honor the scholarship recipients. Mrs. Dorgely leaned on the skills of other members of H.O.Z. who had production experience to bring the committee’s vision to life. Tasia Brown and Christina Chalmers, who both have production and videography experience from their professional roles, worked together to provide H.O.Z. with an unforgettable virtual experience.

The four-person crew, masked up with negative COVID-19 tests in hand, met to record interviews with scholarship recipients via Zoom. The camera crew recorded Scholarship Soiree host Rev. Shaunda Sutton interacting with participants in person while recording the participants over Zoom.

Once the last interviews were over, Brown and Chalmers reviewed all footage from three cameras and put together the Scholarship Soiree video presentation which was presented to the Chapter and Community on April 10, 2021. H.O.Z. gave out over $16,000 in Scholarships this year.
