Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.

Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated was founded on January 16, 1920, at Howard University in Washington, DC. The Sorority was founded by five trailblazers: Arizona Cleaver Stemons, Pearl Anna Neal, Myrtle Tyler Faithful, Viola Tyler Goings, and Fannie Pettie Watts.

Eta Omicron Zeta Chapter

On March 17, 1972, the Eta Omicron Zeta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. was chartered to serve the city of Plainfield and its surrounding communities. The charter members are Minnie R. Gary, Elizabeth Thompson, Lula Crawford, Jacqueline White, Evelyn Crawford and Marie Lattimore.

Scholarship

Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. was founded on the principles of Scholarship, Service, Sisterhood, and Finer Womanhood. Continuing the Sorority’s 100+ year legacy, the Eta Omicron Zeta Chapter has awarded over $200,000 in scholarships to support citizens of Union and upper Middlesex counties obtain degrees from higher learning institutions.

 

Service

Through volunteering and community activism, the ladies of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. make a positive impact on their communities. The Eta Omicron Zeta Chapter supports their community through an annual Health Fair, collecting donations for NJ based non-profit Moms Helping Moms, creating a free pop-up grocery store experience for a local senior building, and more.

Sisterhood

Zeta Phi Beta encourages women to learn and grow in the spirit of sisterhood and friendship. The ladies of Eta Omicron Zeta Chapter foster positive relationships with one another, lending a hand professionally and personally whenever needed.

Finer Womanhood

Zeta women are synonymous with excellence. Members set and exceed the highest expectations in all that they do. The women of Eta Omicron Zeta are the finest examples of finer womanhood, holding leadership positions in boardrooms, academic institutions, government and more throughout the state of New Jersey.

It is a privilege and an honor to serve as the president of a chapter that is comprised of over 60 phenomenal women who use their time and talents to uphold the charge of mentoring youth, providing services to the elderly, awarding scholarships, and implementing National Initiatives of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. With over 50 years of service, we continue to expand our reach within Union and upper Middlesex counties and increase our service projects by focusing on the specific needs in those communities.
